Overview
Brother James Alfred Miller, FSC, was killed in Huehuetenango, Guatemala in 1982. This bust was commissioned by St. Mary’s University of Minnesota to commemorate Br. Miller’s life and work. Etched into the stone benches are Br. Miller’s birthdate in roman numerals and the date of his death in Mayan glyphs. In December 2019 Br. Miller was Beatified by the Catholic Church, in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Two bronze casting of this bust were created in commemoration of this event. One in Huehuetenango for the Beatification ceremony, and another for Cretin Derham- Hall high school in St. Paul, where Br. Miller taught.
