Overview
“Astana” Kazakhstan.
Private Residence, Kazakhstan. 7.5 metres wide X 2.4 metres high
Toughened and laminated cast glass with screen printing on the reverse surface. Powder Coated Steel frame.
Goals
In the grounds of a private residence in Astana Kazakhstan a large back-lit feature wall provides a screen for an engineering plant room. The household are horse lovers and have commissioned a screen in laminated cast and screen printed glass, the background image is of horses in movement across the large screen.
Process
The design has been translated into a 3 dimensional mould and glass has been slumped into place at high temperature in the kiln. The glass has then been hand painted on the reverse and laminated to create a very strong resilient glass wall, with back lighting to be seen both day and night.
