Overview
A large scale hologram of an astronaut who finds themselves adrift of the mothership, floating weightlessly through a cosmos of vibrant flowers, majestic nebulae, and iridescent butterflies, each element poignantly woven from diminishing oxygen levels.
The ethereal projection was originally staged against the backdrop of St. Stephen’s Church in Bristol for Bristol Light Festival and delves into the profound solitude of space and the mysteries of the human psyche, prompting contemplation on life’s fleeting nature and the mind’s capacity to conjure beauty and find serenity amidst profound loneliness and imminent silence.
Goals
The goal of the piece was to create a striking and emotive installation as a visitor attraction for Bristol Light Festival
Process
The original idea was conceived by ourselves and presented to Bristol Light Festival in the form of various pre-visualisations. Once commissioned, we created the visual content and worked with an event management company and a projector installation company to install the work.
