Overview
Anton Pavilion Panels – Wallis Ranch Patinated Steel 88” x 69” 2015
Commissioned by a developer through the Dublin Heritage and Cultural Arts Division, Dublin, CA.
Anton Pavilion greets residents and visitors at the entry and exit point of the Wallis Ranch community. The three sculptural panels convey and celebrate the tools that were and many of which still are ubiquitous on ranches such as Wallis Ranch. The panels are a daily reminder of the rich agrarian history of the land.
The footprint of the pavilion is the same footprint of the historic Anton School, a 100+ year-old building which still exists on the property.
Goals
The goal of the project was to memorialize the history of the land by showing the beauty of the tools that were essential to running a ranch, and were the precursors to our modern technological tools.
Process
The project is a result of a robust and enjoyable collaboration with the developer and the City of Dublin. The process included community outreach, including informative discussions with residents of Dublin.
