Overview
A complete interior gut remodel of a 3000 s.f. victorian house. 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, sitting room, living room and a large home office/studio.
Goals
To open up and reconfigure the existing floor plan to better suit the lifestyle and preferences of the clients. Create a new stairway to better bring in light, address formal vs. informal/private areas, and create a focal point. Provide a functional, working kitchen for clients who love to cook.
Process
We were selected after engaging in a limited competition with other architects to provide a schematic concept that addressed the client's program. We went through multiple open plan scenarios and focused things down to a working plan. Details were added and alternate materials were exposed during a long design development phase.
