Overview

Osman Hamdi Bey was a prominent Ottoman statesman, archaeologist, and art historian. He is best known for his work as the director of the Istanbul Archaeological Museums and his efforts to preserve and promote Turkish cultural heritage. In particular, he is known for his discovery of the ancient city of Lycia and for his excavations of the sarcophagus of King Mausolus, which is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Osman Hamdi Bey was also a talented painter, and he created several notable works of art during his lifetime.

Process

The collaboration process for the Osman Hamdi Bey VR Experience spanned an intense two-year period from 2017 to 2019, during the early stages of VR experiences. The project was successfully completed and installed on May 19, 2019. Since then, it has remained open and continues to attract visitors on a regular basis at the Pera Museum.

Throughout the development of the VR Experience, several professors and art experts made significant contributions to the documentation process. Their expertise helped ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the content.
