General Glass International is sponsoring a competition for a winning design to be exhibited at CODAsummit in Cincinnati, October 16-18, 2024. It’s a terrific way to visualize your art on GGI’s Alice® direct-to-glass, which can be used for a future facade or wall-clad interior, or to simply display in your studio. Artists working in (but not limited to) painting, photography, mixed-media, and digital art are eligible and encouraged to enter!

Alice® direct-to-glass printing is a digital imaging process that utilizes ceramic frit paint to reproduce designs on glass. The glass is then tempered which fuses the ceramic frit into the glass creating a permanent and durable solution ideal for exterior and interior design applications. This process adds tremendous design flexibility while eliminating the limitations and costs associated with silk-screening.

GGI has pioneered digital ceramic frit printing in the United States; the company has a long history of working with artists to change the culture of neighborhoods and revitalize both interior and exterior public spaces, attract visitors, and stimulate economic growth.

The value of public art extends far beyond aesthetics, as it fosters a sense of community, stimulates dialogue, and promotes a rich cultural environment.

Last year, GGI revealed their first project, the façade of The Harlem Hospital in New York City, it was just the beginning of their journey to help artists change the face of cities across the country. For this project, existing paintings that were hanging on the walls of the hospital lobby were converted into digital files to create a 13,000 square foot façade on the front facing side of the building.
