Wellington City Council’s City Arts & Events team and Public Art Panel are calling for temporary public art proposals from artists and curators in response to the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New Zealand, Aotearoa. On 19 September 1893, New Zealand became the first self-governing country in the world to give women the right to vote. We are looking for proposals from across New Zealand that recognise and respond to this landmark event and the significant role of women in shaping Aotearoa and world history. This national call for proposals is open to all art-forms and mediums – visual art, sound art, performance, dance, text-based works and others. Collaborations and participatory projects are also welcome.
