Open to artists that live and work in Illinois. Located in Aurora, the Illinois Math and Science Academy is a publicly-funded school for gifted students and was founded as a teaching and learning laboratory by the state of Illinois. The residential public high school serves 650 carefully selected 10th through 12th graders who have demonstrated talent in math and science. The selection committee will select a variety of two-dimensional interior pieces for purchase. The artwork must speak to the IMSA mission of “igniting and nurturing creative, ethical scientific minds that advance the human condition.” It must be appropriate for display in a high school setting. IMSA promotes inquiry, collaboration and problem solving in its curriculum and much of a student’s work is self-directed. The artwork will be hung throughout the renovated area by IMSA staff. The budget for the project is $18,000 and will be used to purchase two-dimensional artwork from a diverse range of artists.
