Beginning in the fall of 2019 and concluding in the summer of 2020, construction of the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater will bring a new public performance and event venue to the West Des Moines City Campus. The $2.4 million outdoor amphitheater will be located next to the pond and will serve as a community-based cultural space, bringing people together to share inspiring musical performances and creative showcases. The project will include a permanent commissioned work of art to be sited on public property next to or within the confines of the Jamie Hurd Amphitheater site plan. The work of art may be a single piece or made up of multiple pieces. The total budget for the project is $174,000. This not-to-exceed total must cover all design fees, fabrication, installation, lighting (if needed), site visits, and other related expenses as defined by contract.
