  • Brief Description

The City of Henderson is calling on all artist to design and create one (1) unique mural for O’Callaghan Park located at the intersection of E. Horizon Dr. and Skyline Rd. in Henderson, Nevada.

The mural area is approximately 42’ wide and 17’ tall (totaling approximately +/- 714 square feet). The mural will enhance the cultural beauty and environment of O’Callaghan Park and support the City’s efforts to make all Henderson Parks and Recreation facilities more welcoming for all.

The mural must encapsulate O’Callaghan Park and complement the adjacent area. The mural should embody the unique history of O’Callaghan Park and elements of the surrounding area. O'Callaghan Park, named after Mike O'Callaghan, a former Nevada Governor and Basic High School teacher, was built in 1979. It's one of Henderson's oldest parks and is situated at the base of the Black Mountains. The park is also proximity to many prominent Henderson landmarks such as the College of Southern Nevada Henderson Campus, Black Mountain Recreation Center, and the Historic Water Street District.

Selected artists will have one week to complete the mural and the mural must be completed by no later than June 17th, 2024.

Selected artist/artist teams will be rewarded up to $26,000.00 for the selected mural space. One artist or artist team will be awarded the entire project.
