  • Brief Description

Bernalillo County – BernCo is searching for an artist or team of artists to create a public art piece for the North Valley Aquatics Center, which is currently under construction at the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center in the North Valley. The winning artist or team will be expected to create the piece with the help of local schools in the area. The budget will be $75,000, which will be distributed over two phases of the project. Those interested in applying can find a summary of the project and required qualifications here, as well as on the BernCo website.

The North Valley Aquatic Center project was approved in the effort to bring recreational water activities to residents in the area, after the community center’s pool was demolished in 2010. Crews broke ground on the aquatic center in July; Phase I of the public art project is expected to be completed by May 2025, with Phase II estimated to be complete in Jan. 2026.
