  • Brief Description

The Public Arts Advisory Board of the City of Wylie, Texas seeks to commission an original art work functionally, philosophically, and artistically integrated with the space for the Entry to the Municipal Complex Walking Trails. The walking trails are located in a portion of the Texas Blackland Prairie region. The Blackland Prairie region extends from Sherman to New Braunfels, Texas. The Municipal Walking Trails are expansive and currently encompass tree miles. There are plans to extend the trails into additional areas and add a dog park and splash park for children. Placement of the proposed entry piece will be behind City Hall. Themes include creativity, resilience, hope and remembrance through sculptures of the Native American Tribes that hunted the area; animals that have existed in the area and the beautiful prairie grasses and plants that were native to the region. This will be a multi-year project with sculptures scattered throughout the trails. The initial piece will be for the entrance and should reflect a synopsis of the history visitors will see throughout their walk. Please find the application form linked here and see the commission document for application instructions. -RFP Team
