“Unconventional” is an apt descriptor for Matthew Geller’s art, which not only amuses, but fosters feelings of belonging. In a world where many feel alienated, his public art projects accomplish developing “a level of connection to the familiar while highlighting elements of awe and beguilement.” This care to build with communities in mind using often overlooked materials creates a dichotomy worthy of reflection. Geller completed a B.A. at Connecticut College and an M.F.A. at University of Delaware, and has lectured at Princeton University and Williams College.
