Brief Description

The artwork sought through this call to artists is a sculpture to be installed in MAPS 3 Lower Scissortail Park in Knuckle Plaza. The Plaza is the pivot point or knuckle where the long Promenade from Upper Park connects to the Robinson Avenue sidewalk which continues to the southern boundary of the Park at SW 15th Street. The site will be viewed from the top of Overlook Hill, from the Hill Pavilion and from Robinson Avenue, with long views from other sites in the Park, and up close on the Plaza.

The sculpture is envisioned to include a strong vertical element which will create a visual relationship with the sculptures Taking F(light), planned for the Upper Park, and the existing Sky Dance Bridge which connects Upper and Lower parks crossing Interstate 40. Elements of lighting, sound, and movement may be incorporated into the sculpture but are not required. All materials, finishes, and design elements must be long-lasting and require no special maintenance.
