Brief Description

Winona State University and Buffalo Star People Design request qualifications for a permanent, outdoor sculpture that will integrate within a newly-created Indigenous Learning Garden (ILG). This Indigenous Learning Garden is located on Dakota land, which is currently used as the campus of Winona State University. The goal of the Indigenous Learning Garden is to create a place of healing and medicine, promote awareness and care for Unci-Maka, and provide community learning about the Dakota people who historically lived on this land. It will also be a place for education and learning for the community. The WSU ILG Art Selection Group is particularly interested in artists who use natural materials and material from the surrounding region of Winona. Proposals from Indigenous artists are strongly encouraged.
