Brief Description

The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy is excited to announce our recent release of a public art Request for Qualifications. As part of our award-winning Public Art Program, we are seeking an artist or artist team with a social and/or community based practice to create a site specific artwork in partnership with Boston's Chinatown, which will be installed in coordination with the Chinatown Main Street Lantern Festival in the fall of 2020. This light-based temporary, site-specific, placemaking public artwork. The artwork will activate Chin Park (recently renamed from Chinatown Park by the legislature), part of the contemporary public park in the heart of Boston known as The Greenway. The artwork will be installed in early August 2020 for the Chinatown Main Street Lantern Festival in September and will remain on display potentially through the winter (on view for 3-6 months). The primary objective of the project is to recognize and represent the thriving community of Boston’s Chinatown.
