Brief Description
2017 marks forty years since the Lane Cove Plaza was constructed in 1977. As part of the planning for this special occasion Council has also finalised a brief for a new public artwork to be installed in the Plaza The artwork is proposed as a commemorative work celebrating the Plaza’s role as ‘The People’s Place’. Lane Cove Plaza is an asset that has evolved along with the aspirations of the Lane Cove community. It is the beating heart of Lane Cove. An artwork is sought to preserve the positivity in the hearts and minds of those who encounter it. Further reading has been provided with this Artist Brief that documents historical events surrounding the creation of the Plaza, which today is regarded as a highly successful public space. Three artists will be short listed and paid to develop a site specific concept following an initial EOI process. The selected public artwork will sit proudly in the Plaza.
