The Arts Council in partnership with the City of New Orleans seeks qualified multidisciplinary artists to create permanent public art projects in the Gentilly Resilience District. The purpose of public art is to build awareness about the city’s water infrastructure and to catalyze action surrounding environmental challenges. This Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is intended to select artists for the Civic Arts Fellowship, a cohort-based professional development program that equips artists and Gentilly residents with knowledge about the city’s relationship with water, neighborhood history and identity, and public art best practices. The five (5) most qualified respondents will be selected. Multidisciplinary and performance artists are encouraged to apply as part of an artist team. Individual project budgets will range between $5,000 to $75,000 dependent on media, scale, and scope.
