Brief Description

The City of Santa Clarita (City) is seeking an artwork to be permanently located at a Metrolink Station and Bus Transfer Station (Station), now under construction at the Vista Canyon Multi-Modal Center.
The City intends to select one artist to design and fabricate an original, site-specific artwork to be located on a wall and visible at the Station. The Station is near the site of a significant event in California history: the ‘wedding of the rails’ in 1876. Previously accessible only by ship and wagon, Los Angeles was an isolated outpost until the Southern Pacific and Central Pacific railroad tracks were joined together with a golden spike just east of the Vista Canyon Multi-Modal Center site.
The artwork (representative or conceptual) will be inspired by the themes relating to this event. Artists 18 years of age or older are invited to submit an individual or collaborative artist application. Artist must have a US mailing address for payment to be mailed to and must fill out a W-9.
