This sculpture will serve to bring awareness to the general public of the significance of our maritime past and advance the claim that Havre de Grace is a welcoming City for the arts. The sculpture is located near the Maritime Museum, Decoy Museum, Concord Point Lighthouse and Keeper's House. It is directly on the Havre de Grace Promenade route in the Cultural District. This area is part of a National Historic District and part of the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Trail System. The sculpture will serve as a cultural focal point for tourists and local citizens alike. The Public Art Committee maintains a strong relationship with the Havre de Grace Office of Tourism and Visit Harford, the surrounding museums and the Havre de Grace Visitor Center. The area is visited by over 250,000 people every year and this sculpture will result in an increase in that number, estimated to be from 10 – 20,000 more visitors per year.
