Brief Description

The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival is to commission two artists, from different areas in Scotland, to work with their local community on a participatory arts project on the theme of mental health. The completed work will be showcased in May 2022 as part of next year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. The fee for each commission is £4000 inclusive of all project costs. We will consider applications across all art forms, and from organizations as well as individual artists. All proposals should meet the following criteria:
It should engage a marginalized community.
It should in some way draw on, and address, lived experience of mental health.
It should build a relationship with participants throughout the year.
It should be innovative and original enough to capture the imagination of people outside of the community involved in the project.
Ideally it should take place a part of Scotland where SMHAF does not already have a significant presence.
