Brief Description

Vision: To create a lasting memorial that will stand prominently in Prescott as a testament to the honorable service given and ultimate sacrifice made by the 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshots (“GMHS”), based in the City of Prescott, Arizona, was an elite group of men dedicated to the preservation of life and property in the forest and its surrounding communities. Best known for being the first municipal interagency hotshot crew in the nation, the GMHS was considered one of the best wildland firefighting units ever assembled. The GMHMP was established to commission a physical memorial, in an accessible and central location in the City of Prescott, that will help ensure that the sacrifice, bravery and dedication of the 19 Hotshots will be remembered by residents and visitors for generations to come. The memorial to be commissioned by the GMHMP is separate and distinct from any other memorial currently established or planned.
