The City of Boston is searching for creative individuals to create a public piece of art for Roxbury’s newest fire station. This Call for Artists is a Percent for Art project that the City of Boston, via the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture and Boston Art Commission, is commissioning as part of the new construction of Engine 42. This Call for Artists has a budget of $300,000 and is for a site-specific, impactful, focal design feature. The art is to be located on the exterior of the building or its grounds, the design of which should enrich the connection between the Boston Fire Department – the oldest in the nation – and the rich and diverse surrounding Egleston and Roxbury communities.
