Longmont’s City Council proposed and ratified an Ordinance in 1988 which allocates 1% of City Capital Improvement Projects to a special Art in Public Places fund. Collyer Park is one of three of the original parks located within the original square mile of downtown Longmont. Surrounded by mature trees and historic homes, the neighbors to this park take great pride in their neighborhood as is evident with a walk in this Historic Eastside neighborhood. Collyer Park is home to public tennis courts, a new playground and several gazebo/shelter amenities. Visitors to the park include neighbors as well as children (and their families) who attend the adjacent elementary schools as well as those from other neighborhoods, seeking shade offered by trees or to attend an organized soccer or sports practice.
