planned for the Alachua County Office of the Public Defender’s new building located at 151 SW 2nd Avenue, Gainesville, Florida. This permanent installation will include two potential sites (1) located at the exterior space near the entrance to the facility or (2) located in the public lobby. After review of all submissions, the Committee will refer 3-5 artists or artist teams to the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners for final selection. Artists or artist teams can apply for one or both installations. Background The Alachua County Public Arts Program is intended to encourage the inclusion of works of art in public construction projects in order to expand citizens and visitors’ experience with visual art enabling them to better understand the values of the community. The goal of the Program is to expend funds on works of art and art projects of redeeming value that advance public understanding of art and enhance the aesthetic quality of public places.
