The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces an open call for artists to create public art for the future Cass Avenue bridge over I-94 in Detroit’s Midtown. The new bridge will be constructed in 2021 as part of the I-94 modernization project advanced bridges phase of the project. Opportunities for public art include land that lends itself to placemaking at the southwest corner of the bridge and several possibilities for integrating artwork into elements of the bridge itself, including planter boxes and the concrete barriers and parapets. Artists are invited to participate in online information sessions on April 1 and 2 to learn more about the project.
