Brief Description
The newly renovated Hopkins City Hall will feature an original, suspended artwork created by a Minnesota artist. The site for the piece is the new entry vestibule, a welcoming focal point to the center of city government and services. The vestibule is on the north side of the building, with glass on the east, west, and north walls. We are looking for lightweight, suspended art that will make use of the ample natural light the windows will provide. Pieces with integrated illumination are welcome. On account of placement and traffic, durable materials are a must. This space will be illuminated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the artwork will be very visible. The sculpture should be welcoming, and reflective of the Hopkins’ Mission and Vision: Mission- Inspire, Educate, Involve, Communicate Vision- Creating a spirit of community where: All People feel safe and respected, and diversity is celebrated.
