Goals
Located at the entranceway of the new Fox Cities Exhibition this site-specific sculpture addresses place and history; travel and home. Underscoring the facility’s purpose as a regional convention center the suspended sculpture, You Are Here, uses the imagery of a map with a colossal pushpin to demarcate a specific location (Appleton, Wisconsin). Simultaneously this work celebrates our long and continuing history and why we are called the “Paper Valley”: The imagery of an oversized sheet of lined paper cut to resemble an outline of Wisconsin uses the deep chronicle of the area’s paper industry as a point of departure to suggest “place” as a destination.
