Overview
Wild Life Sculpture Search, a public project of six sculpture installations integrated into a nature trail at Boca Ciega Millennium Park in Seminole, Florida. The imagery and placement of the sculptures were designed to intensify awareness about the effects of human impact on the natural environment. Made primarily of plaster and plant matter, the sculptures were designed to gradually change and decompose over time.
Goals
The goal was to draw attention to Boca Ciega Millennium Park and their educational and pro-active environmental concerns. The project became a popular destination site; park attendance rose by 15 percent during its first five months.
Process
A book and a video were made to document the evolution of this temporal project. As the park’s artist-in-residence, I further involved the community by giving guided walks and sculpture workshops throughout 2007.
