Overview
Waves of Peace consists of two stained glass panels measuring 38″ x 45″. This piece was custom made for the waiting room of the cancer infusion center at the Hershey Hospital in Hershey, PA.
Goals
We were commissioned to create two large panels to fill windows in a waiting room that overlooked a hallway. Our goal was to create a visually calming environment for the patients that both allows natural light in and provides privacy from people walking through the hallway.
Process
Dan and Jill Burstein work collaboratively on the design and fabrication of all of New Hope Stained Glass's projects; Jill is the primary designer, while Dan is the craftsman. For this commission, Dan and Jill conducted a site visit and created a proposed design inspired by their impressions of the space. They then presented this design to the hospital's arts committee board, received feedback, and worked with the committee to make changes to the design and color pallette.
