Overview
An avid gardener wanted to see flowers all year round. She supplied me with photos of some of her favorite flowers & let me loose to design an arrangement she could enjoy from inside her home in the winter, and from around the garden the remainder of the year. The 60″ x 48″ mosaic is hung where it can be viewed from all those vantage points. It is one of 2 mosaic works I created for this private garden.
Goals
The goal was to have lots of color and flowers in the garden, throughout the year, even in the cold months.
Process
The commissioner provided me with inspirational photos of some of her favorite flowers. I did several drawings/painting. The client let me know which parts she liked & which things she would like changed. I tweaked the painting until we came up with a design to the clients liking. Only then, began the mosaic process.
Additional Information
This work was created with Mexican Smalti on an exterior grade substrate. The client had the work installed by her own contractors who framed & hung it on the brick wall.
