Overview

High Chromium 316L Stainless Steel 16' x 16' x 1' Fabricated Boxes with High Resistant Blue Color Transparent Pain

Goals

The Client's vision was to produce a Wall Sculpture for a new contemporary Building installed on the outside that would catch the eye of Pedestrians and Drivers alike.

Process

The client supplied a CAD layout and shape of each box design. The client also supplied the orientation of each box in the group. We then worked with the information to design a cut layout for the water jet and a press design for the press brake to bend the boxes. Each box was also welded at specific locations. ART collaborated with Providence Engineers to design a mounting structure that was light weight yet strong as the sculpture was to be mounted on an outside wall with weight restrictions. An aluminum structure was designed to mount the SS polished polychrome blue boxes to. It was also designed to fit on a semi truck trailer without going over the size limit. Alleviating the need to get permits. In between each box is a plastic barrier to keep the coating from scratching as the boxes were bolted together. Each box was individually coated with a transparent blue coating and sealed with multiple clear coats.
