Overview

Honoring Veterans from all five branches of the United States Armed forces. The piece evokes the universal hand signal for victory with its concrete initial clad in a mosaic of stars and stripes. Each side of the pentagonal base is inset the official seals and creeds for each branch. Mosaic over concrete 10'4″ h x 5' x 5'

Goals

The original public art call to artist requested an iconic sculpture which would become a visual focal point and landmark for the new facility incorporating military symbolism, paving design and lighting.

Process

I worked with the Town of Miami Lakes Veterans Committee to insure all military symbolism was accurate. I worked with several town officials, the public art coordinator, my contractor, two tile fabricators and a 3D computer modeler to execute this piece.

Additional Information

Silver flecks in the tile glisten in the sunlight and 7 lights illuminate the V sculpture at night.
