The installation was about creating a toy to make a toy. The idea of creating a Lego like element that people could build, create and explore their imagination with. The tetrahedral pieces connected and responded to one another through color mixing. If you attached a red to a yellow they would turn orange. We created an aluminum frame with magnetic connections that allowed the units to connect to one another. The panels were made with durable a HDPE panel that allowed light to pass through. There was a total of 30 units that were made for the light festival.
This project was created as a part of the Lights on Tampa festival in Tampa, FL. We created the piece to encourage people to engage with one another around the work sparking community activity and social interaction within the space. People could begin to make different public seating elements, sculptures, and more.
