Overview
This is a maquette done for a City of Chicago Project. As a team, muralist Tom Melvin and mosaic artist Francine Gourguechon collaborated on a mural project combining their mediums to create a painted urban scene with 3 dimensional glass mosaic pigeons flying across the foreground.
Goals
As specifically a Chicago project, the team worked to highlight the city's classic buildings and "L" train that runs through the city as well as the numerous birds that inhabit the environment. The birds are mounted on blocks on the painted mural that are mosaiced in luminous art glass.
Process
As this project has not been awarded yet, Melvin and Gourguechon have complied with all directions for the application. We hope to work harmoniously with all involved in this project.
Additional Information
The goal for this potential mural project is to combine 2 mediums done by 2 Chicago artists to create a unique and dimensional piece for the city.
