Overview
Created by renowned Australian Indigenous artist, Reko Rennie, Untitled (Bogong Moth) 2017 is a major commission for the National Museum of Australia (NMA) in Canberra, Australia. Permanently suspended in the newly refurbished entry hall of the museum, the artwork references the migratory Bogong Moth, an Indigenous totem, as a metaphor for the mass movements of cultures and people.
Goals
UAP worked with NMA and Rennie to develop, fabricate, and install the artwork, rendering the artist’s signature bold geometric patterns and bright neon colours in a durable materials palette, including polished cast bronze, aluminium, automotive paint and neon lighting. A bold and dynamic intervention in the museum’s entry hall, the artwork is a pertinent symbol of the implicit connections between Indigenous and contemporary cultures.
