Overview
Commissioned to paint twelve original murals, scenic, calming views of Wisconsin..Various sizes, acrylic on canvas…affixed to drywall during construction.
Goals
Patients in this area of the hospital are generally under heavy pressure and worry..so the art director wanted scenics that would be both calming and fit into the overall timber design of the area.
Process
The hospital art director asked for several dozen sketches of Wisconsin scenics...Twelve were chosen to be developed into murals. Smaller paintings were first submitted, which ended up framed and hung around the check-in desk.
Additional Information
The paintings were all painted on canvas in an art studio in Sheboygan, then brought to Madison to be affixed to walls. Due to construction changes, many of the large paintings had to be adjusted and repainted on site to fit in larger alcoves.
