Overview

“Tzolk’in Light” is a sound and light performance composed of water curtains, projectors, lasers, and electronic sounds on a river.

The concept narrates time as an art form. Time is not for regulating us, but is a series of complete and naturally functioning energy and rules. Tzolk’in is the basic cycle of the Mayan calendar. The work reinterprets the laws of time and the energy of natural operations through the Mayan lunar calendar. The work presents three-dimensional visuals and sounds in space, expressing the accumulated energy of life. It unfolds in four stages – construction, modulation, synchronization, and regression – to present development, continuation, transition, and conclusion. The concept is symbolized by the Mayan lunar calendar graphics, expressed through points, lines, and planes in three-dimensional space, metaphorically suggesting the opening of the Milky Way gate. Much like the moon, after endless darkness, a new light is gathering strength, ready to burst forth.

Goals

On a water surface 20 meters wide and 10 meters high, three-dimensional geometric shapes are projected. Lasers and projections are played in synchrony. The three-dimensional images on the water surface seem to open a door in the space.
