Overview
True West is an interactive compass that points West in its resting position, unlike a normal compass which points North. Park visitors and children from the nearby school and recreation center can affect the direction and rotation of the needle by interacting with three platforms around the central compass structure.
Goals
To create a crown jewel for the park that can withstand the elements and inspires visitors to interact as well as sit and contemplate.
Process
Nick and Ryan worked with all stakeholders from the public art program, Parks & Recreation, and permits at Denver as well as members of the facilities team at the park in order to fulfill all requirements and necessary goals.
