Overview

The contemporary, pure and flexible form of TREE RINGS was designed and developed with a particular attention to respect of nature. The designers’ creative vision is based on the ring as a symbol of unity and gathering, as a symbol of unity between man and nature. Three lighting rings encircle the trees of the avenue, without touching them. The tree is respected as a living being, enhanced by the lighting. The outside of the ring is a LED strip, giving a glow of light while the inside LED strip lights up the tree itself.

Goals

The Comité des Champs-Elysées selected our concept because of its design and quality, but also because it represented a breaking point with the traditional iconography of Christmas time, creating an invitation to new aesthetic orientations. Our concept also contained a sustainable aspect that led to a sponsorship by with a photovoltaïc electricity producer. Those two aspects were asked on the tender.

Process

Tree Rings was designed by Marcos Viñals Bassols, lighting design by Koert Vermeulen, developped in partnership with Bis Lighting and installed by ASP Blue Square. All Belgian based resources.
