Overview
Spent shotgun shells were strung with cable around a steel frame to create this piece. The viewer could look into the interior , but not enter the piece. The interior contained hanging plastic guns, caution tape and a mirrored floor. Wire mesh and plastic fencing prevented entry. The structure is 8 feet high by 4 feet wide by 4 feet deep. This piece was commissioned for the Serious Fun Art Festival.
Goals
The goal was to create a work that interacted with an active public. This piece drew the viewers in with its colorful shells, and then had an added punch when they realized what they were. The intention was to start a dialogue on guns.
