Overview
A 23m high tower in perforated corten steel and light. The lighting effect which reveals a linear drawing at distance effectively “pixilates” as the viewer approaches. This visual phenomena causes each perforation to reveal a different hue to others.
Goals
The work celebrates the industrial history of the site by re-imagining the past tower/smokestack of the foundry and giving it a new visually interactive sensibility.
Process
This work is one of many collaborations between Warren Langley (artist) Trent Baker (industrial designer and director Armature Design Support) and Partridge Event Engineering (structural engineers.
