Overview
“Toros Curiosos” 2007 Polyurethane coated steel, Lafayette, CO . Dimensions are 9’ high by 11’ wide and 28’ deep. Commission for the City of Lafayette, CO. Toros Curiosos is part of the City of Lafayettes’s Project to enhance the transportation corridor along a major thoroughfare. This heavily traveled roadway alongside old farms which are quickly given way to new developments. Because this is the first and last impression people encounter in the City, enhancing this corridor has been a top priority. These iconic and whimsical sculptures speak to a bygone time in Lafayette where bulls would roam the countryside unfettered.
Goals

Process
The city of Lafayette, CO was asked to install artwork along a major thoroughfare, I proposed artwork along the corridor that would speak to Lafayettes rich agricultural past, They saw an opportunity to install a monumental sculptures that would create a strong impact on visitors to the city. I applied design and fabrication techniques used i to create an artistic interpretation of the surrounding farm animals and landscape, The use of colorful materials which would contrast the surrounding landscape in a beautiful fashion.These lighthearted and iconic sculptures harken to an earlier time, while standing the test of time.
