Todd Reed Jewelry Attelier on Abbot Kinney Blvd. Venice Ca. is housed in a remarkable building designed by Glen Irani. Within the building is a 2 story atrium open to the sky, constructed of zinc cladding and grey plaster. We hung my sculpture “Lunar Cycle #1” in this cloistered column of light and quiet.
Todd Reed chose my piece because it's main element is an open wire grid supporting floating reflective forms which filter and bend the light. He wanted a piece which evoked grandeur and motion without overwhelming the space.
We hung the piece so that when entering the second floor room which houses the atrium, only the bottom part of the sculpture is visible so that you are drawn towards the piece and then your gaze is directed upwards, through the sculpture and to the sky
