Overview
Over 50 various sized glass pieces bolted to the hospital walls in waiting areas and corridors.
12mm toughened glass cut, drilled and polished. Ceramic silkscreen enamel.
Goals
Shapes and forms inspired by beach pebbles then decorated with images from the seabed are used to lead the visitors to the new hospital from waiting areas to wards throughout the building.
Process
I met with a group of patients and staff to discuss the potential design ideas for the walls over 4 floors within the new hospital. Portsmouth is a historical Naval town on the south coast of England, the images are based on fossilised remains from A. the sea bed, B. within the sea, C. on the sea and D. above the sea.
