Overview
A interactive Public Memorial Sculpture. 84″h x 82″w x 25″d This sculpture was commissioned by the Tim Eggert memorial Foundation and in collaboration with the designer Todd Reed we created a public sculpture that is interactive and celebrates the fun loving and giving spirit of Tim Eggert. The sculpture is located in front of the main public library in Boulder, CO. This sculpture was inspired by Tim’s love for the guitar and also his favorite public sculpture in Boulder.
Goals
The goals for this project were to create an interactive sculpture that was beautiful, functional and safe for the public. These goals were paramount in the design and execution of the project. Controlling every aspect from scale to string placement and materials.
Process
The inception of this project started at a charity event where a long time friend of Tim was talking to the designer Todd Reed about how to commemorate and honor his recently departed dear friend. Out of that discussion designs were created and presented to the foundation. After a design was approved Todd and I started working together on how and what it would take to fabricate this project. A design, budget and timeline were created and submitted to the city of Boulder for approval. Upon approval the project began. The project was completely fabricated in my studio, mostly by me with some occasional help from Todd and some friends. Once the project was completed and installed it was made offical by the dedication ceremony. There were speakers on the behalf of Tim, his family was there along with members of the public all enjoying a CU student of the harp playing for everyone and then accompanied by Tim's friends play music to send off our best wishes.
