Overview
This was a collaboration with a dance company to provide visuals that would enhance and yet not distract from the dance performance. The decision to use LEDs to create visual patterns that enhanced the dancing and the music.
Goals
The objective was to create a vibrant and integrative backdrop for a dance company performance.
Process
This collaboration included first and foremost the principal dancers in the company. We talked and sketched for hours before coming up with something that was in the budget and yet could be a dynamic addition to the music and their choreography. Then the building of the LEDs took an engineer and fabricators that could hand make the LED panels. I was involved and responsible for the creation, building, installation and running of the panels during the performance.
