$70,000 budget
This piece was designed to complement the landscape and surrounding architecture at Robinson Green on the campus of Rowan University. Creating a point of interest through an illusion of unsupported suspension, the three bronze elements, stacked upon one another, appear to be floating. The openness of the composition, absence of a base, and the low profile were executed to project a sense of approachability, and invite and encourage interaction.
Goals
Rowan University was interested in a public artwork that complemented the design vision of the site, and enhanced its natural physical characteristics, topographical details, and ecology. Artworks that are environmental in discipline and elevate and capture the natural elements such as light, movement, sound, were encouraged. The University sought an artist capable of understanding and reflecting an intersection/crossroads of the various academic and natural elements. The work should invite individuals to experience the messaging of the art in a passive or active way.`
Process
I designed and built this piece. Remtex of Alsip, IL did the waterjet cutting. I had help from John Adduci who assisted the fabrication.
