Overview

“See As Bees See” is a melding of textile art and light. Arbitrary placement of colors and shapes within the composition are a result of Carson's signature sewing technique. Placing the work on a light box allows the seams to be amplified, providing a linear element beyond the glowing colors of the silk fabric. The colors and composition of the artwork can be read as completely different in day, lit and unlit applications.

Goals

This artwork was commissioned by Arrow Electronics for the 2018 Five Years Out Art Challenge.This challenge is a world-wide competition for innovation in the arts; seven artists were chosen as finalists. The textile, displayed at the 2018 Cherry Creek Arts Festival in Denver, Colorado, and becomes part of the Arrow Electronics fine art collection.
